Folding Clothesline

Yes! Most folding clothesline models have a ground mount kit option to allow for this. Some of the smaller units are wall mounted only. There are two types of ground mount kits which are Standard and Plated for the different ground surfaces.

A Standard Ground Mount Kit is a type of post kit that you will need if you are installing posts into a grass/soil area. This is the more common type of post kit from ground mounting fold down clotheslines as you dig two holes for the posts and cement them into the ground.

A Plated Ground Mount Kit allows you to bolt the posts down onto the top of an existing concrete area rather than core drilling or jack hammering holes into the concrete. The posts have metal plates welded on the bottom of the posts or a foot plate setup with holes for bolting down onto the top of the concrete.

Our installers will only install folding clotheslines onto masonry walls (brick or concrete). This is to ensure safety for the user and so the clothesline can function correctly. You may first need to check with your local Council and/or Strata Body for regulations governing the installation of a clothesline on a boundary fence. An alternative is installing a Ground Mount Kit close to the fence to ensure adequate support.

This depends on the individuals height, however generally our installers install the top bolt of the fixing bracket around 50mm to 100mm above the users head height. An average height is approx. 1800mm(6ft) but you can adjust this to suit your individual requirements. If the frame is set too high, the user may be unable to fold the frame down, as most frames need to be pushed up to release the locking mechanism. Consideration may need to be given to taller users, or if the Fold Down is to be installed in a walkway.

Generally, yes most folding clotheslines can be easily installed by following the manufacturer's instructions. Yes, depending on the brand and model. For example, the Austral Standard 28.5 Folding Clothesline can be reduced in length to fit a shorter length if required. The front bar can be cut down with an angle grinder or hack saw, prior to insertion into pre-assembled side arms, during installation.

Our installers will only install onto masonry walls (brick or concrete). As long as there is sufficient structural support on the intended wall you can install a clothesline directly on the wall. Or you may need to install the clothesline using a Ground Mount Kit near the garage/shed if there is not sufficient structural support.
